The Nature-based Future Challenge
In November 2023 Wageningen University & Research launches the first edition of the international student competition Nature-based Future Challenge in the Bengal Delta, Bangladesh.
International Student teams are asked to visualize the potential of nature-based solutions to respond to the biggest challenges of the 21st century: climate change and biodiversity lost. Based on soil and water data, and interviews with stakeholders, the teams will create a vision for a Bangladesh in 2100 and present it in the form of adaptive spatial planning maps and illustrative renderings. The results of the Challenge will provide inspiration and transformative pathways for decision-markers and a hopeful perspective for future generations.
Join the Challenge
The challenge is open to BSc, MSc, and PhD students worldwide. Relevant study background include amongst other, Landscape architecture, Spatial planning, Forestry, (Organic) Agriculture, Nature Conservation, Environmental Students can join with their own team or register as single participants and be assigned to a team.
It is a unique opportunity for students to boost their professional skills, learn from and network with industry leaders, and to meet and exchange ideas with students from universities worldwide. Top teams receive a participation certificate and a travel & accommodation budget to attend the Grand Finals in the Netherlands. The prize for the winning team is 9000 Euros.
