Con inmenso orgullo celebramos el logro extraordinario de Joaquín López, graduado de Marketing de la USFQ, trail runner ecuatoriano que el pasado 26 de abril de 2025 se consagró campeón de la prestigiosa Mt. Fuji 100 en Japón. Esta competencia, de 168 kilómetros y más de 6 000 metros de desnivel positivo, es considerada una de las más exigentes del mundo. Joaquín no solo la ganó, sino que impuso un nuevo récord, cruzando la meta en un impresionante tiempo de 17 horas, 48 minutos y 40 segundos, el mejor registrado desde que la carrera se celebra, en 2012.
La contundente victoria de Joaquín se hizo aún más memorable al convertirse en el primer latinoamericano en subirse a lo más alto del podio en esta competencia, superando a corredores de talla mundial como el chino Guomin Deng y el japonés Yuya Kawasaki.
"Hoy me exprimí más que nunca en mi vida, pero el esfuerzo valió la pena. Este día no me lo olvidaré nunca", compartió Joaquín tras cruzar la meta visiblemente emocionado, abrazando a su esposa, pieza fundamental de su equipo y fortaleza personal.
Su trayectoria es una verdadera inspiración: de destacar en competencias locales como el Chimborazo Ultra Trail y el Taita Imbabura Challenge, a conquistar podios en eventos internacionales de renombre como la Transvulcania en España y la Lavaredo Ultra Trail en Italia. En 2024, Joaquín ya había hecho historia al convertirse en el primer latinoamericano en subir al podio de la distancia madre del Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB).
Hoy, su nueva hazaña en el Mt. Fuji 100 confirma que el esfuerzo, la pasión y el espíritu de superación no conocen límites.
