Lingnan, a global leader in quality education and high impact research, is Hong Kong’s liberal arts university which is ranked 2nd globally for “Quality Education” in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2023. In the latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2020 conducted by the University Grants Committee (UGC), Lingnan’s research in humanities, business and social sciences was classified as “World Leading” (4 star) and “Internationally Excellent” (3 star); while some research disciplines under business and social sciences also came 1st or 2nd among all public universities in Hong Kong in terms of the percentage of “World Leading” research work. Applicants may seek admission to PhD programmes in two ways as follows:
Apply via the HKPFS+ during the period from 1 September to 1 December 2023 (Hong Kong Time 12:00 noon). Applicants who apply for and do not get the Fellowship can still be considered for the regular PhD places at Lingnan.
Apply to the University directly from 1 November 2023 to 19 January 2024. Normally, full-time PhD students will be awarded full Postgraduate Studentships. In 2023-24, the full monthly stipend is HK$18,530* before confirmation of candidature and HK$18,890* after confirmation of candidature.
They also have popular research-based 2-year MPhil programmes. Applicants may apply for admission to their MPhil programmes directly from 1 November 2023 to 19 January 2024. Full-time MPhil students will normally be awarded Postgraduate Studentships as well. In 2023-24, the full monthly stipend is HK$18,270*.
