Soraya Constante es alumni de periodismo en la USFQ y fue una de las pocas latinoamericanas que han entrado en la Escuela de Periodismo de El País, en España. Ha publicado en medios como El País, Vice News, The New York Times, Univision Noticias, Revista 5W y Gatopardo. Con el trabajo colectivo “Frontera Cautiva” fue finalista de los Premios Gabo en 2019 y con “Migrar es Tocar Tierra” fue nominada al mismo premio en 2020. Es cofundadora de la Fundación Periodistas Sin Cadenas que promueve el periodismo de investigación en las regiones menos visibles de Ecuador.
Actualmente, está trabajando en su proyecto Cerca de la Guerra: las otras fronteras de Rusia, es un proyecto de Crowdfunding que busca ampliar la cobertura de la guerra y contar qué pasa en las otras fronteras de Rusia si se consigue el monto óptimo. Hasta ahora se ha recaudado un 67% del monto necesario para arrancar y quedan 20 días para cerrar esta primera ronda. Todo se publicará en la revista española FronteraD, que está impulsando el crowdfunding y moviendo el proyecto entre sus redes de contactos.
El gancho para Latinoamérica es que habrá información disponible en español para entender cómo se vive tan cerca de una guerra y de un país con un afán imperialista. Además se verá el presente de los países o territorios que fueron parte del antiguo mundo soviético. De igual manera se realizará un podcast para contar cómo se está haciendo esta cobertura, que puede ser útil para los periodistas que busquen hacer coberturas en esta parte del mundo.
Como recompensas para los donantes se realizará un ciclo de talleres de periodismo con la idea de multiplicar el periodismo. Los editores de FronteraD, entre los que se cuentan a Alfonso Armada, con una larga trayectoria en los medios españoles ABC, El País y en la ONG Reporteros Sin Fronteras, darán los talleres y se está buscando más apoyos.
